At Yonkers Pottery, our team brings together experienced artists, teachers, and makers who share a passion for ceramics and community. Get to know the people behind the studio and discover the knowledge, creativity, and encouragement they bring to every class and studio experience.
Cori Morenberg
Cori founded Yonkers Pottery in 2014 as a sanctuary to build community, courage and creativity via clay. She's completed 5 years of Steven Hill's Journey Workshop, and has studied ceramics in a wide range of studios, including Greenwich House Pottery, Lehman College, Alfred University, The Alison Palmer Studio and Haystack Mounain School of Crafts. She's also worked as an assistant to production potter, Teresa Chang. She often looks to plant morphology and the ceramics, arts and crafts of ancient and traditonal cultures worldwide for inspiration for her coiled and pinched pieces. Patti Jackson
Patti's a multi-talented artist and a former owner-chef of a Brooklyn-based Michelen-starred restaurant. More bio to come.
Marla Hazan
Marla is a retired NYC school teacher and life-long "craftsy girl." She took up pottery as a post retirement hobby, and fell in love. Now she combines her two passions--teaching and clay. She teaches pottery, specifically wheel throwing, to beginners and intermediate students. Find her on instagram at marlamakespots.
Giselle Reiter
In the forms she shapes on the wheel and by handbuilding, Giselle is inspired by the colors and light, and the rhythm of the ocean in her home country, Lima, Peru, and the constant movement of New York City where she's lived for over 30 years. As a teacher, she focuses on helping students build strong technical skills in a warm, relaxed environment. Find her on instagram at gisellereiterpottery.
